Why I'm in love with "Chuck"

That clip said it all.

Do you hear that in the background? "I Don't Wanna Wait" by Paula Cole i.e. the theme song/anthem of Dawson's Creek! And keeping in their 90s DJ session (the episode is set at a 1998 High School Reunion) we also got to hear "Backstreets Back" by the Backstreet Boys and "MmmBop" by Hanson, not to mention Boy Meets World star Ben Savage was guest starring!!

I'm having a moment!

"...Mmm bop ba duba dop ba du bop..."

Dr. Hahn kicked off Grey's Anatomy

WTF!?!? They are writing Hahn out because of a network decision!? Excuse me, they aren't even writing her out, she is walking to her car??? After all that set up, really...I'm pretty pissed right now:

What I'm Watching Tonight: Monday's are for Spies

There is so much good TV on Mondays: Gossip Girl and One Tree Hill for my teen drama loving heart, Samantha Who? and How I Met Your Mother for my comedic pleasure, Heroes for coolness, awesomeness and hotness and of course the topic of today's blog: Chuck and My Own Worst Enemy for the part of me that always wanted to be a spy.

Chuck, 8pm NBC

Last season I wrote off this spy dramedy, only to find myself at their panel during Comicon wondering why I'd never bothered to watch it. I've since discovered that it is actually quite excellent, though I do note that it is necessary to watch through a humorous lens, because taking it too seriously would probably ruin it.

The humor isn't over the top ridiculous, rather it's more like cute sweet awkward guy (I seem to keep comparing him to Seth from the O.C.) keeps getting caught in all sorts of crappy situations and then handling them in his geeky barely makes it out alive kind of way.

The main story focuses on Chuck, who had the contents of the government super computer downloaded into his brain, and is now a very valuable asset to the gov, protected by two real spies Sarah and Casey (played by Adam Baldwin i.e. Jayne from Firefly, whom I love love love!!) But besides tugging at my nostalgic Alias heartstrings, the main reason I watch is for Chuck and Sarah's budding (and tragic yet amazing) love story.

I was able to just start watching without feeling lost, but just in case, you can get a taste of the show and catch up on last season in just four minutes:

My Own Worst Enemy, 10pm NBC

To be honest, I was pretty hesitant about this show from the get go, which may have stemmed from my lack of love for Christian Slater, but since watching it, I have to say the show did manage to impress me.

Don't get me wrong, it wasn't over the top fantastic but I am very intrigued/fascinated by the premise, though I have no idea how it is going to hold up for a whole season. Also, if the episodes are riddled with as many plot holes as the pilot, I am not going to be a happy camper. I did quite enjoy bad boy Edward, but I fear most of the stories will focus on the less interesting Henry, although I do have to say, them talking to one and other kind of blew my mind. I think it's definitly worth a dedicated try, plus if anything it too makes me Alias nostalgic, which (if not done horribly) is never a bad thing. You can watch the pilot on Hulu.

Or check out this 3 minute replay to get caught up for tonight:

Watch Chuck at 8pm and My Own Worst Enemy at 10pm tonight on NBC.

Sarah Palin on Saturday Night LIve

If you missed it last night, Sarah Palin did an excellent job of smiling on SNL as they made fun of her. It was pretty hilarious, check it out:

Opening Skit

Maybe it's my new found 30 Rock obsession, but I loved the reference and Alec Baldwin's appearance. I didn't get that he was watching the TV though (and not just looking off into space) and thus wished he had looked at Sarah Palin more when confusing her. Also he could have said Tina a few less times, we got it. But I really liked the Stephen Baldwin burn, "you look much hotter in person," and the "I've hosted this show 175 times" line, although the best part: Tina Fey, "The real one?" Haha.

Weekend Update

I'll be honest, I was a little concerned about Amy Poehler gangsta rapping that much pregnant, but did find it absolutely hilarious! Todd's portrayal, the backup eskimos, and Sarah Palin "raising the roof" were all sooo good. OMG though shooting the moose!! That was fantastic!!

I have to say the whole thing was very well handled, considering the precarious line that could have been crossed with Sarah Palin being in such close proximity to her own mockery. I'm no fan of the woman, but that could have been really awkward, instead watching that fake moose fall over has been the highlight of my day :D

The End is Officially Upon Us

Get frakking excited (or possibly depressed), because Sci Fi just announced that Battlestar Galactica is returning on Friday, January 16th at 10pm and after just 10 glorious episodes the series will end on March 20th.

The mid-season premiere will pick up from June's cliffhanger (Dear Sci Fi: You're killing me, June to Jan is far too long...) where we left the Colonial fleet and their Cylon friends on a barren nuclear wasteland called Earth. (Did everyone see that rusting Brooklyn bridge in one of the final shots? Freaky.)

If you have no idea what I am talking about then you have less than three months to get caught up on the best show on television, seriously, put those netflix to good use and start watching!

On the Verge: Sanctuary

Synopsis: Sanctuary follows the adventures of the beautiful, enigmatic and always surprising Dr. Helen Magnus (Amanda Tapping), her new recruit, forensic psychiatrist Dr. Will Zimmerman (Robin Dunne) and her fearless daughter Ashley (Emilie Ullerup). Together they track down, study and protect the strange and often terrifying creatures that secretly populate our world and live among us.

The show, which stars Stargate SG-1/Atlantis' Amanda Tapping and is written by two fellow Stargate alums, Damian Kindler (creator) and Martin Wood (director), debuted as a web series in 2007. From its inception, the show pledged to stay closely connected with fans through an interactive website, SanctuaryForAll.com, and thus created a large following that lead to Sci Fi's decision to pick up the series for a 13 episode season that premiered October 3rd.

But this show's jump from the web is just the beginning, the most intriguing part of this series is that it is the first show ever, as far as I know, that is filmed almost entirely, roughly 90% of the shots, in front of a green screen (using the new RED Camera). I had the privilege
of attending the NYC premiere at the Paley Center a few weeks back, and while my unrealistically high expectations were not met, the visual effects were still surprisingly stunning. No, it's not a perfect mirror of reality, and there are definitely times (several wide shots in particular) where the CGI is very obvious, but then there were all the other moments where I was constantly debating what was real and what wasn't. Overall I'd say most of the work is subtle and convincing, and noting that this analysis is from someone who was intently looking, it makes you wonder how much the casual viewer would even notice?

At the panel after the premier, the cast and creators discussed the creative freedom they now have because of the green screen. Essentially they can film anywhere, the catacombs under Rome? No problem. (Keep an eye out for that location in one of the upcoming episodes.)

So is Sanctuary a pioneer of things to come? Sounds like it, NBC has recently acquired a script based on the Greek myth "Jason and the Argonauts" and the rumor is, if this goes to series, NBC is considering shooting entirely on green screen. Read about it from the Hollywood Reporter

For more on Sanctuary, check out this preview, it's for the October 3rd premiere, but it gives you a nice sense of the series:

On the story side, the show has a lot of potential but definitely needs time to mature. The pace could be quickened a bit and the writing sharpened, but it's very close and after two weeks I continue to want more. Does the lack of sets affect cast performance? I've been impressed thus far, but you'll have to decide for yourself.

If you are a sci fi fan, or just intrigued by a new wave in television production, check out Sanctuary tonight at 9pm on Sci Fi.

For a special look at the Sanctuary's use of green screen check out this video:

Grey's Anatomy Wrap Up - "Brave New World"

Grey's Anatomy is back!!

I don't care what's been said, this show is still going strong and last night was just one fine example of why I'm a loyal "Grey's Addict."

I absolutely loved the episode, tons of laughs, medium on the melodrama while still advancing overarching plot lines (Don't get me wrong I love me some melodrama, and I'm always a fan of more, but the occasional fluff ep without mer-der collapsing or the world ending is always appreciated, and this episode had a nice balance/pace of dramatic moments.)

I also enjoyed the Hospital not flooding or exploding (why did I totally not care at all about that little debacle last week?) and the lack of surgeries (in a good way) allowing us to finally delve into some of the new realtionships more like Callie and Hahn, who are soooo awkward but also adorable and fun. I like them but I worry, Grey's and awkward relationships seem to always ended badly (George and Izzie anyone?) I really hope the writers successfully get these two un-awkward quickly before it kills the whole thing.

I did want more George (who btw was so cute with the scared little kid, awwww) and Lexi. George needs to get his head out of his ass, ugh, the end killed me. And where is Sloan? He needs a plot line. It's times like these when I miss Addison, but am then reminded of my love for Private Practice, although more crossovers would be nice...

And though it took me a couple minutes to get, I loved the end when Derek gave Meredith and Christina the trailer, he's so McDreamy...*sighs* If you couldn't tell already, overall I was very pleased.

My favorite moment was a tough call because I really loved all of the dermatology scenes. Though I should note one flaw from last night's ep: Christina's patient story line made very little sense and got lost in the shuffle, but I think all is forgiven by this fantastic scene: Callie is talking to Bailey about her date with Hahn...Bailey's expression is absolutely priceless, I could not stop laughing!

If you missed it, you can watch last nights episode at Abc.com or check out a Recap on EW.com

Grey's Anatomy airs Thursday's at 9pm on ABC.

Reality TV Confessions: Project Runway

I'm a bit of a fictional TV snob, but I have to admit there are some reality shows that I find quite entertaining. While I am not an avid viewer of any particular show, occasionally I will catch a marathon or some reruns and become quite invested in a season of show.

So what did I turn on instead of the debate Wednesday night, because let's face it, nothing on this earth is going to make me vote for John McCain: the Season 5 Finale of Project Runway!

My Review: I have to say I was happy Leanne won, from everything I've seen of hers, throughout the show, I think she deserved it. Plus that blue dress was my absolute favorite piece out of all of the collections. Though I'll admit, at the end I was rooting for Korto, I think her line was my favorite at Bryant Park, although perhaps not as well polished as Leanne's. And while I was impressed by Kenley's clothes, even though half the time I personally don't understand them, I think she squanders her talent when she's so stubborn and arrogant. But overall the show was quite entertaining and definitely succeeded in making my feel very lame lounging around my apartment in an old t-shirt and jeans.

To see the winning clothes, check out this 40 second recap of Leanne's runway show at Bryant Park:

Retro UPN Moment of the Week

In 2003, UPN launched Veronica Mars, one of the best shows ever to grace the small screen, but unfortunately, despite its brilliance, is still relatively unknown even after its three season run on UPN and the CW.

I aim to change that, this will not be the last time I attempt to convince the world that Veronica Mars is the best thing since sliced bread. Just eeking ahead of Battlestar Galactica and Buffy, Veronica Mars has managed to land at the top of my all time favorite TV list. With it's amazing funny, witty, and intelligent dialogue, incredibly complex story lines, and realistic portrayal of teen angst and our class society, I'm a total sucker for this teen show slash detective drama thats been called "a little bit Buffy and a little bit Bogart" by USA Today. Number one fan, Joss Whedon (Buffy, Angel, Firefly) called it "the funniest and most romantic show on TV" in his review of the season one dvd box set which can be read at EW.com

I ask for a measly 3 minutes of your time to check out the following preview, though taped off the screen at Comicon, it is the best trailer I've ever seen for the show and if this doesn't make you the slightest bit intrigued then I'm not sure what's wrong with you:

Alright, alright, I'm done, but I implore you to check out the pilot and see what you think for yourself, I promise you won't regret it.

Don't Waste Your Time: Eleventh Hour

It's been quite the year of X-Files copy cats, and while I am not one to eviscerate fledgling shows, I have to say watching the pilot of Eleventh Hour was verging on painful.

Within the first five minutes my friends and I were already asking "What!?" and giving each other confused looks. I am all about complex TV that challenges the viewer, but in a pilot I prefer to understand where I am and who I am watching before you go off and complex me. I also felt very little attachment to the characters and their stereotypical behavior, Rufus Sewell is hot but beyond that I really wasn't impressed. And adding to the confusion was my inability to figure out exactly which characters would be recurring and thus who I should care about. All of which could be forgiven if I had been watching a gripping, kick ass pilot, however, in my opinion, this was not that by any means.

I will say that I've never been a huge CSI fan myself (I lean towards Law and Order) and episodic dramas without overarching plot lines usually do not grab me (unless I'm in the midst of some epic marathon) so I would take my opinion with a grain of salt.

Decide for yourself: Eleventh Hour airs Thursdays at 10pm on CBS

Retro WB Moment of the Week

I was doing some research for a CW presentation and came across some old WB Ad Campaigns.

I hope these elicit the same nostalgia in you that they did in me:

The WB's 1999 Promo

The WB's 2000 Promo

Embedding was disabled, but this was fascinating, and if you loved the WB you really should check out this video as well: The 1999 WB Upfront

My favorite of the bunch, a video montage of various WB show promos for the fall season in September 2000. Best part: At 1:14, James Van Der Beek (Dawson's Creek) and Scott Foley (Felicity) in the car, trust me it's awesome...Also note the super creepy voice on the Roswell, Buffy, and Angel voiceovers, I was not a fan.

And finally, the last WB Promo ever, as the network says goodbye:

There were so many great ones, it was hard to pick just a few, but for more information, history on the wb, and videos check out this article at Television Obscurities.

Sunday, September 28: Season Premieres

9:00 Desperate Housewives (ABC)

When Desperate Housewives ended last season the show attempted to follow in the steps of other successful shows (One Tree Hill, Battlestar Galactica, LOST) and jump ahead five years in to the future. Read about some of the cast's thoughts in today's Detroit Free Press.

10:00 Brothers & Sisters (ABC)

I love this show! The family dynamic makes for excellent and relatable drama that I can't stop watching. And after last season's wedding (!!), Justin and Rebecca's kiss (which I didn't want but really wanted at the same time) and the mysterious new child roaming out there somewhere, I am totally psyched for tonight's premiere!!

9:00 Dexter (Showtime)

I have not seen this show yet, but I just borrowed the first season from a friend of mine. One of things I love most about television is its ability to make you understand things from new perspectives and undermine your stereotypes of a situation, I think this show does that and I can't wait to see how.

P.S. OMG I didn't know Julie Benz (Darla from Buffy/Angel) was in this show!?

10:00 Californication (Showtime)

I have heard both praise and hatred for this show, but I can not give my own opinion since I have not watched it yet, I intend to shortly, but for you fans out there...

Also premiering: Extreme Makeover: Home Edition (ABC) 8:30pm, 60 Minutes (CBS) 7pm, The Amazing Race (CBS) 8pm, Cold Case (CBS) 9pm, The Unit (CBS) 10pm, The Simpsons (FOX) 8pm, King of the Hill (FOX) 8:30pm, Family Guy (FOX) 9pm, American Dad (FOX) 9:30pm, Little Britain 10:30pm (HBO)

What I'm Buying this Weekend: Sex & the City Movie Special Edition DVD

The Sex & the City Movie Special Edition DVD arrived in stores Tuesday and I can't wait to get my hands on it!

The two-disk Special Edition DVD contains and extended cut of the film (12 additional minutes), commentary with writer/director Michael Patrick King, a digital copy of the film for your ipod ect., "Conversation with Sarah Jessica Parker and Michael Patrick King," "Fabulous Fashion of SATC," Deleted Scenes and an interview with Fergie.

Last week NYC's Public Library was lit up in pink for the DVD release party and, while I hate to shamelessly plug my own internship, TV Guide's "Hollywood 411" was on hand to talk to the stars:

Available on Amazon: Regular Edition, Special Edition, Blu-Ray

As a HUGE Sex & the City fan, watching this movie in theaters was the ultimate present and I'm psyched to get my copy of the DVD and watch it over and over again with my friends like the freakishly obsessed fans we are...lol :D

Buffy (aka Sarah Michelle Gellar) returning to the small screen?

It really irks me when TV stars decide they want to focus on their movie careers (and repeatedly refuse to do any sort of continuation), like Sarah Michelle Gellar leaving after seven seasons of Buffy: the Vampire Slayer, because inevitably they always come back (though unfortunately not to Buffy) and I had to lose my favorite show in the process...I'm not bitter or anything, what? Of course, like any loyal follower, I am still extremely excited that SMG is returning to television in a new half hour, single camera, HBO series, The Wonderful Maladys. The show was developed by Charles Randolph, specifically for Gellar, and he describes her character as having "a kind of zealous immaturity — like a drug addict with a to-do list." The show will focus on three dysfunctional siblings still trying to cope with the loss of their parents at an early age.

Filming begins in early 2009! Read more at Variety.

Grey's Anatomy Wrap Up - "Dream a Little Dream of Me"

It wasn't mind blowing but it still filled me with the "gooey" Grey's Anatomy feelings that make me so happy to watch their world for an hour every week that I am not complaining. Though, as much as I love two-hours with my favorite doctors, there were soooo many story lines (and patients sleeping with different people's tragically injured husbands) that my friends and I were having trouble trying to explain the connections to each other. That's on top of all the various stories focusing on the large ensemble cast, I mean Callie and Erica? Two hours to go nowhere? Rose being psychotic felt a little buried, and didn't George and Lexi kiss in the season finale!! I wanted more!! At the same time I have to give Shonda Rhimes credit, she's made this show and all of it's extensive drama last five years without getting too ridiculous, I can't expect her to give me everything I want in one episode. But I could have lived without being deceived by the previews, dream sequences really? I didn't believe Rose was pregnant but that joke would have been so much better if the preview hadn't ruined it. How many shows are going to do this fake out thing to get hype!? (Refer to yesterday's 90210 anger) It's a little much, especially because your episode ends up being a bit of a let down. On a positive note, how much do I love Christina's and Meredith's relationship, although Mer--you really are going to run away when your bff gets stabbed by an icicle? You're a freaking surgeon, do something! However it gave ample time for Dr. Hunt to be Christina's knight in shining armor (allowing me to swoon over him even more) In regards to their fight, Christina was right, the Meredith freaking out plot has totally been done ten million times before on this show, I don't think Meredith is as whiny as half the people I talk to and I understand being consistent with her commitment issues, but come on! At least they contained it to only one episode...hopefully. Absolute favorite moment: Christina referring to telling Meredith off "Yeah, and then I got karmically impaled!!" The amount of love I have for that line knows no bounds, haha. In closing, I was a tad disappointed that I didn't cry at all and I wasn't big on the ending. The Chief's speech didn't do much for me and in some ways Denny didn't either--I hate to say this but I'm kind of over that story line and I don't think the writer's have been consistent with it recently, so this felt a little bit out of the blue to me.

My new Izzie love prediction: Mark Sloan!! Can you see the possibility?

If you missed it, you can watch last nights episode at Abc.com or check out a Recap on EW.com

Grey's Anatomy airs Thursday's at 9pm on ABC.

90210 News: Dylan and Brandon's Infamous Return

I fear my 90210 love is dwindling...I found Tuesday night's episode disappointing, predictable and cliche (Did anyone really think Annie was going to sleep with him?) and where did all the adult story lines go? Not to mention my anger over the deceiving preview!! Perhaps the excitement/intrigue I felt after watching the preview is why I felt let down by the actual events in this week's ep. To be fair, it wasn't all bad, the episode definitely had some nice twists, but nothing that totally shocked me, unlike this week's Gossip Girl, I hate to compare, but Chuck's puppet-master reveal at the end and OMFG "Queen S" as she walked by Dan, were absolutely amazing moments. I'm starting to feel that 90210 is reusing everything I've seen before without the necessary fresh new take on it, and while I do concede that being a remake complicates this, all the "Who is going to actually Guest Star?" drama is only making it worse. I mean how long are Shannen Doherty and Jennie Garth going to stay? Luke Perry and Tori Spelling are pretty much dead set against coming back, and I don't know but at this point is it really looking that good for seeing Jason Priestly? So to compensate for all this drama what do the producers do? Resort to having them (and not even their voices) call on the phone!?! Umm yeah, lame! Replace the actors or something because I can see this getting really ridiculous really fast...you can read the whole story (*warning spoilers*) via E! Online's "Watch with Kristin"

Does anyone else fear that this show is going to run out of drama by the end of the first season, and we will suddenly be seeing an O.C. collapse happening all over again? Don't get me wrong, I'm not calling it quits--I've never been one to stop watching addictive Teen Drama, but unfortunately I won't look forward to it nearly as much.

Retro MTV Moment of the Week

So I was hanging with a couple of my friends tonight, somehow we started discussing halloween costumes, and I let slip that my friend and I had been Daria and Jane Lane last year. This prompted an excited Daria discussion, a frantic youtube search for the theme song, and plans for future marathoning...perhaps this clip from Episode 3x13 "Jane's Addiction" will inspire the same in you:

"The Emotional Trauma Cycle of the High School Student" Hahaha! Love it! Also Farmers who are paid not to grow anything...lol and can I just say that if you know me and my habits this line is the story of my life: "I'm always late that's why I don't wear a watch, they depress me."

Thursday, September 25: Season Premieres

8:00 Ugly Betty (ABC)

9:00 Grey's Anatomy (ABC) (Two-Hour Premiere)

Words can not describe how excited I am for this premiere!! So much so that my friends and I are commemorating the occasion with a viewing party celebration!

  • Catch up by watching the ABC Starter Kit
  • Season 4 Trailer (it was my fav despite it being taped off the tv)

As some of you may know, every season ABC puts together a clip music video, this year featuring "The Quest" by Bryn Christopher and combines clips from the show and him singing. I have to say watching this got me even more excited if that is possible...is it Thursday yet?

10:00 ER (NBC)

If you're like me you've seen so many ER episodes over the past 14 years (Does TNT still play two episodes a day like they did during most of my youth?) that you feel intimately involved with the show but you have absolutely no idea what is happening right now but you really want to watch the final season...

  • Catch up on Season 14: Wikipedia or Television Without Pity
  • Preview for Season 15:

  • Let's not forget that Anthony Edwards aka Dr. Mark Greene (who's death episode still brings me to tears every time) will be returning for a episode this season in flashbacks as part of Angela Basset's character's backstory. Read about it at TV Guide.com

Also premiering: My Name is Early 8pm (NBC), The Office 9pm (NBC)

Tuesday, September 23, 2008

Wednesday, September 22: Season Premieres

8:00 Knight Rider (NBC)

(There was a preview here but NBC took it down and youtube is lacking.)

I have no idea how I feel about this show, at first glance I was turned off by the super macho direction I think this show is going to take (sorry guys!) but at the same time slightly intrigued, particularly because I am a complete techie nerd. The show is coming off an earlier series (with David Hasselhoff) and a movie but will still hopefully introduce itself well to new viewers and I will probably watch the first episode out of sheer curiosity...I mean the car talks!?

10:00 Lipstick Jungle (NBC)

I never got a chance to catch this show--about three high powered woman living in New York City--last season (though I am catching up, the season only 7 episodes) It may be the new, network censored version of Sex & the City, but I loved that show so much I'd take it again in any form. So when they said Candace Bushnell, I ran to my television...

  • Season 2 Preview:

  • Catch up on Season 1 or watch the Season 2 Premiere (before it airs) on Hulu

Also premiering: New Adventures of Old Christine 8pm (CBS), Gary Unmarried 8:30pm (CBS), CSI: NY 10pm (CBS)

Dr. McSwimmy: Michael Phelps on Grey's Anatomy?

Michael Phelps was on Jimmy Kimmel Live Sunday night where they premiered this gem:

How much do I wish this was real!!

Sunday, September 21, 2008

Tuesday, September 23: Season Premieres

9:00 The Mentalist (CBS)

  • Simon Barker is Patrick Jane, who has a semi-celebrity past as a psychic medium, and is now an independent consultant with the California Bureau of Investigation (CBI), who has a remarkable track record for solving serious crimes by using his razor sharp skills of observation.
  • Scene from the pilot:

I'm intrigued, but also reminded of another show involving a psychic and law enforcement, yes I'll concede that there are differences in the details, but overall is this just a copy of USA's Psych? I'm not sure if the scene above completely sold me, but this fascinating mind game did, at least enough to watch the pilot:

I am also reminded of an old book series I used to read where the solutions to the cases were all in the details: Encyclopedia Brown. My love for those books may be enough to make me watch this series all season, we shall see...

10:00 Law & Order: SVU (NBC)

Luke Perry (90210) will not be returning to the new 90210 (or so he keeps saying causing me great anger, but I still have my *fingers crossed*) He will, however, be on the small screen this week, guest starring on the season premiere of Law & Order: SVU. He and his wife, played by Julie Bowen (Lost, Weeds) are accused of abusing their foster child for medical testing. At the very least I'll be tuning in to see what 90210 is missing...

Get off your high horse Luke Perry and just do a freaking episode!

Also premiering: Opportunity Knocks 8pm (ABC), NCIS 8pm (CBS), Without a Trace 10pm (CBS), Law & Order SVU 10pm (NBC)

Saturday, September 20, 2008

Monday, September 22: Season Premieres

8:30 How I Met Your Mother (CBS)

9:00 Heroes (NBC) (Two Hour Premiere)

Retro WB/UPN Moment of the Week

If you are a Buffy fan you can relate to the pain I feel every time I hear "Goodbye to You" by Michelle Branch. Her appearance on the show at the end of "Tabula Rosa" (608) is one of my all time favorite Buffy moments and is definitely one of the more heart breaking Buffy scenes ever:

And to add to the heartbreak, because really once you've ripped your heart out why not stomp on it a little bit too? This horrible moment (it's worse than tragic or heart crushing or any other apocalyptic word you can think of if you were a Buffy/Angel fan) is from the Angel episode "I Will Remember You" (108):

Mmm now wasn't that fun? Excuse me I need to go wallow and look up shipper vids...

Sunday Night: The 60th Primetime Emmy Awards

So it's time for the Emmy Awards and let me just state now that I have tried very hard these past few months to move past my anger over Battlestar Galactica being snubbed for any of the big awards, again! Actually I'd probably have very different nominees in almost all the category's since many quality actors and television shows seem to have been completely forgotten. But since here we are days away from the awards with only these options in front of us, I shall move on to who I am rooting for to win these prestigious awards:

Outstanding Series: Drama - Boston Legal, Damages, Dexter, House, Lost, Mad Men

Outstanding Series: Comedy - 30 Rock, Curb Your Enthusiasm, Entourage, The Office, Two and a Half Men

What I'm Watching: Thursday, September 28

Smallville Thursdays, 8pm (CW) *SPOILERS AHEAD*

I really hate it when people give up on television shows...

...and I am a hypocrite.

I really do love Smallville, I even own the first five seasons! But my excuse is that I've been a season behind for the past couple seasons and I kept putting off properly catching up. However, I have decided that I have given up on getting caught up and I am going to just jump right back in, especially since this could potentially be their last year. Wikipedia's Smallville Season 7 Entry was amazingly helpful and I youtubed most of the important moments from the 7th Season Finale, including this heartbreaking clip...I wasn't even rooting for them and this still broke me:

Speaking of couples, I think I may have also given up on the show around the same time I gave up my hope for Chloe and Clark to be together. Even though I saw in my youtube spree that Jimmy proposed to Chloe in the Season Finale, I've heard that their will be some Chlark moments in the upcoming season and I'm not gonna lie, that's a huge reason why I am going to start watching again.

Check out the Season 8 Promo:

I have to admit that trailer didn't do much for me, but I am curious about seeing Supergirl and the Justice League (I was already loving the Green Arrow from the episodes I did manage to catch over the past two years) I guess I'll just have to wait and see how the episode turns out, and I'll let you know my thoughts...

You can check it out too, Smallville airs Tonight at 8pm on the CW!

Is all the Gossip Girl marketing working?

If you live in New York City there is no way you haven't seen the new advertising campaign for the CW's Gossip Girl. Similar in concept to last year's "OMFG" campaign, the CW has taken the sex sells mentality and run with it. But the best part of these ads are the quotes they've used from some of the shows harshest critics, (Ex: "Mind blowingly inappropriate" - Parents Television Council) turning them into a brilliant reverse marketing scheme. Give teenagers something to watch that they think their parent's won't approve of and they'll eat it right up.These ads have been up for weeks, so why am I suddenly talking about them? I was curious about the success of this campaign now that the show has been back on the air for several weeks. Ironically, I was in a sociology recitation yesterday where Gossip Girl came up as a topic of discussion. I'd say less than half of the group had actually seen they show, but everybody had heard of it and they all had something to say about it. A few students even said that they were so impressed by the ads in particular that they were either tempted to start watching or actually tuned in to see what all the hype was about. But if that's enough, Monday night's episode had a series high of 3.7 million viewers and helped the CW win No.1 for the night with adults 18 to 34. Maybe it's just me, but I'd say somethings working.
Speaking of Monday's episode, personally I thought it was quite excellent and wonderfully scandalous, not to mention HOT!! (in several ways) I'm not huge into recapping myself but if you're interested you should check out Tim Stack's Recap on EW.com. I found it hilarious, plus I too noticed the large Vitamin Water refrigerator, product placement much!

Gossip Girl airs Mondays at 8pm on the CW.

Tina Fey as Sarah Palin on Saturday Night Live

I am sure I was not the only one who said "OMG she looks just like Tina Fey!" the first time I saw Sarah Palin, and I am really glad someone at SNL did as well. I hate to admit that while I'm a big Tina Fey fan, I don't watch SNL that often, but I did catch this and was blown away. Not to mention both Tina Fey (Best Actress in a Comedy, 30 Rock) and Amy Poehler (Best Supporting Actress in a Comedy, SNL) are nominated for Emmys. If you haven't seen it yet watch and enjoy!

And since were in a political parody mood now, even though there is no possible way anyone in America has not seen this ad, I felt the overwhelming urge to watch it again and immortalize it forever in a blog post:
